Directions from the North - Leave the M6 at J33,
signposted Garstang. At roundabout on A6 turn south towards
Garstang. Turn immediately first left onto small country
road. Continue to "T" junction and turn right. Follow this
road for approximately six miles passing over the cross roads at
The Fleece public house. After crossing two sets of "cattle
grids" on Harris End Fell Calderbank is 100 yards on the
left past what used to be Oakenclough Paper Mill where the
old chimney
can be clearly seen.
Directions from the South
- From M6/M55 at J32 follow A6
north towards Garstang through Bilsborrow and Barton.
Shortly after a Land Rover sales-room on the right you will
see a petrol station also on the right. Turn here where it
is signposted Calder Vale & Oakenclough.. (There is also a
brown sign for Beacon Fell Country Park).
Continue over the canal and motorway bridges to another
junction and turn left, signposted to Calder Vale &
Oakenclough. In approximately half a mile turn
right, again signposted Calder Vale and Oakenclough. Follow this country lane
round bends and over a small bridge into Sandholme Lane.
Continue to a wide junction with a small cottage on your
right. Follow signs to Calder Vale & Oakenclough on
Sandholme Lane which turns into Strickens Lane. Follow
Strickens Lane, by-passing right turn for Calder
Vale. Follow country road over hill and down to "T" junction
at Oakenclough Mill. Turn right and Calderbank is 100 yards on
left.
